The Human Services IT Advisory Group (HSITAG) has a proud history of giving back to the community and supporting worthy causes, such as helping those in need and bringing more diversity to the technology industry.

In November, we launched three campaigns to give back, including:

  • Inspiring members to send wish list gifts to the elders at Second Wind Dreams nursing home residents at the TLC Care Center who have little or no family. We provided 110 elders with their holiday wishes and the gifts purchased were approximately $2,800 in value.
  • Connecting members with college students at the University of Virginia Girls Who Code program to coach them on ‘Getting the Job’ (resume and interview skills) and a ‘Day in a life’ as an offering manager intern, sales, project manager, and developer. As quoted from a participant, “I was able to learn a lot about the best resume and interview practices and it was great to get industry professionals’ perspectives.”
  • Encouraging members to raise awareness on domestic violence and donate financial and technology support to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Members raised $5,375 in financial support and over 2,000 views on LinkedIn on raising awareness on domestic violence.

Thank you to our HSITAG members who participated, your efforts made a real difference in people’s lives!   Let’s keep up this important work.
